Cribs

The Pia Unione Ammalati Cristo Salvezza, since its foundation in 1963, promotes the divulgation of the Crib in families and work places; ;

just like it promotes the initiative of the Crib Diocesan contest, started in 1971, and the Crib in the world exhibition, strongly wanted by the Cav. Alfonso Russo; all is inspired by the high spirituality of S. Alfonso that sustains our Association.


S. Alfonso M. De Liguori, in the South of Italy, as S. Francesco in Umbria, has promoted the Crib devotion through a blossoming of genial writings on Christmas, meditations and pastoral chants with an easy but intense melodic line, simple but eternal… Who is not moved when listening, in the amazing silence of Christmas night, to the wonderful song "Tu scendi dalle stelle" (literally You come down from the stars) or to "Quanno nascette Ninno a Betlemme" (literally When the Holy Child was born in Betlemme) or still the other one "Fermarono i cieli" (literally The heavens stopped), where it seems as the universe takes a break and stops its movement to listen to Maria singing to her divine baby?…


Giuseppe Verdi, listening to the Mass, during the Christmas night in 1890, when hearing Tu scendi dalle stelle said: "Without this holy pastoral of S.Alfonso, Christmas would never be Christmas".


Even the great Danish literate Joergensen was moved and fascinated when listening to "the old pastoral Tu scendi dalle stelle", in Betlehem, in the Basilica of Nativity.

King Charles III of Bourbon to the crib had a real passion, as to participate in person and involve his family and the court in the implementation and the habit of shepherds, and the huge crib in the assembly of the royal palace.
