The Monastery of S.Maria della Purità

was the latest monastery papal cloister in the Diocese of Nocera dé Pagani that took the name of S.Maria della Purità, as the glorious memories preserved since the who lived with fame and holiness.

The mother Serafina, native of Anacapri. The 11 of October 1681 were veiled from bishop of epoch, Mons. Felice Gabrielli, the firsts monarchs.

Due to confiscation of clerical goods of 1860 for the important ablative events, the sisters had to redeem the Monastery , the 8th of September 1922.

Departure of sisters of Pagani, the 19th of august 1976, the whole complex has been given to Pia suffering people Jesus. Adjoining to Monastery is the homonymous Church , today is the Sanctuary of Child Jesus of Prague.

The Sanctuary, enriched beautiful pictures of author of the '600 (Solimena, Luca Giordano and Murillo) and from "golden woodly jealousies", and a classic maiolica floor from '600, work of the vietrese handicraft and the only in Diocesi, is callback, during all the year, of numerous faithfuls, that they are accommodates near the Monastery.


The Church rose on the old chapel dedicate to S.S Martiri Felici and Costanza, martyrs in the Nerone's time. (67 dc)

The Church preserve these elements that consent the contemporary enjoying of religious functions both to cloister sisters and faithful.

The second floor of monastery communicates directly to the corridor, besides the central aisle there're two chorus, one in the entrance and one on the sacristy, the chorus are linked by two passages running over the arch of the lateral chapels. Both the chorus and the vains linked laterally are screened with golden lines.

History of Child Jesus of Prague
 

The Ven Mother serafina receive din gift from Vicerè of Naples Fernando Gioacchino Fajardo a picture of a Vertig Mary with child on the cloth from Murillo school, that dominate on the high altar of the Church; The transfer of picture happened the 13th May 1682 with a solemn procession from to church of the Jesus Christ body to Church of Monastery.
The history told that there're been lot of graces that the virgin Mary lavished.
One day, the Ven Serafina's mother was in meditation in front of the picture were he believed to hear a voice: "Ecce Puritas Mea"
Since that day the picture engage the name of "S. Maria della Purità" as its called now.

On 7 May 1983, the Sig.Cardinale Joseph Casoria, Prefect of Sacred Congregation for the Sacraments and Divine Worship, in the presence Diocesano ordinary, Mons, Jolando Nuzzi, and religious and civil authorities, crowned, "Nomine at Auctoritate et Summi Pontificis "the Sacred Image of Our Lady of Purity and Child.

Since of the origin of the Monastery, the sister carmelitane venerated in the chorus of the church sacred woodly effige of the the ' 600 of Jesus Child of Praga, propagating with indefatigable zeal the cult between the faithful. The sacred image had been donated to the Prioress, Mother Giuseppa, the Marchesin Angelica of Family Principi di Gerace, while he was recovering Naples Hospital, with the promise that was exposed to Church to worship of the faithful. The Sisters, favoring the will of Marchesin, put in the veneration of the Infant Jesus statue in a canopy on the left, entering the Church, spread with untiring zeal devotion among the faithful.

Growing more and more devotion to the Holy Child, was necessary to erect a small temple. In 1959 the Father General of the Carmelites, P. Anastasio of SS.Rosario became Archbishop of Turin, Cardinal Ballestrieri, in the presence of lots faithful solemnly enthroned Christ Child in the small temple erected in the chapel, where today is the picture of "Flagellation. "

The S. Child watch and help with particular graces his devotes.

Thanks to several graces made to his devotes, as well as to big concourse of faithful, S.Ecc, the bishop Mons. Jolando Nuzzi a good man, erected the Church of S.M to grade of Santuary of Child Jesus of Prague. The sacred image was crowned June 23 1999 by Pope John Paul II, at the request of our Ecc.mo Bishop, Mons.Gioacchino Illiano.
